Rediscovering Play with Tammy Routley
Ready to loosen up and bring more joy into your painting practice?
Rediscovering Play is all about letting go of pressure and reconnecting with a spirit of curiosity and experimentation. If you ever struggle to start a painting, feel stuck midway, or simply want to boost your creativity, this workshop is for you.
Tammy will introduce the concept of play personalities, explore symbolism in art, and share her unique sudoku-inspired method for beginning a painting — no sudoku skills required. Through a series of engaging, playful exercises, you’ll experiment freely and discover fresh approaches to your work.
This workshop isn’t about completing a polished piece. It’s about challenging familiar habits, taking creative risks, and opening the door to new possibilities. Come ready to explore, experiment, and rediscover the joy of play. Register now and give yourself permission to create differently.

Supplies to Bring
- Approximately 8"x8" or 8"x10" PRIMED cradled panel, canvas, or board (one or two)
- The usual painting supplies: acrylic paint, water holder, rags, palette, palette knife if you like
- Brushes: your favourites, plus a flat that is 3/4" to 1" wide is very handy
- Oil pastels if you have them
- HB pencil
- Something to scratch with, like a toothpick or skewer
- Acrylic paint pens if you have them
