Modern Watercolour Techniques

Workshop Description
Discover the expressive possibilities of modern watercolor in this hands-on workshop with Liz Boulton, a talented and experienced member of the Garibaldi Art Club. Learn contemporary techniques, experiment with color and texture, and bring new energy to your watercolor practice.
Supply List:
Watercolor Paints – A basic set of artist-quality watercolors (tubes or pans) in a range of colors.
Watercolor Brushes – A variety of round and flat brushes, including a fine detail brush.
Watercolor Paper – 140 lb (300gsm) cold-pressed watercolor paper
Waterproof Ink Pen– Optional, for adding fine details or line work.
Pencil & Eraser – For light sketching before painting.
Paper Towels or Cloth – For blotting and cleaning brushes.
Water Containers – Two jars or cups for rinsing brushes.
Painter's masking Tape or Masking Fluid – Optional, for reserving white areas on paper.
Any Additional Materials You Enjoy Using! – For example: gouache, a palette knife, sponges, an old credit card, colored pencils, or salt for texture effects (optional).
Cost:
Early Bird Fee: $25 (payment due by March 2, 2025)
Regular Fee (after March 2): $30
Non-Member Fee: $35

This workshop combines writing and mixed media to foster creativity, to serve as a warm-up for art projects, or to keep an artistic record. Discover techniques to craft unique journal pages, explore easy writing prompts, and experiment with quick and simple activities. Sample journals and creative ideas will be shared to spark your imagination. No experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and creativity!

- Optional Tip: For painting, use journals with heavyweight paper or glue painted samples onto your pages.
